Nature Fantasy

Nature Fantasy was one of the trends featured at Spinexpo SS26, showcased at the Shanghai show in February 2025. This project was a collaboration between myself (weaving) and Eva de Laat (circular knitting), driven by a fascination with subtle textures and the art of reinvention.

At the heart of this concept lies an exploration of microstructures, where tiny patterns spark the imagination and define the collection’s visual language. Crisp, breezy materials—evoking the textures of seersucker, terry, and bouclé—emerge through playful experiments with repeat patterns, yarn pairings, and color interactions. These delicate yet striking surfaces capture the nuanced details found in nature, offering a quiet celebration of the unexpected.

In parallel, the collection draws inspiration from the Zazou spirit—a post-war attitude that embraced resilience and a subtle reshaping of tradition. Here, formality softens as workwear-inspired details and curved silhouettes replace rigid structures, reimagining the classic suit with a modern sense of ease.

At the core of the project are two exceptional yarn qualities, Breeze and Lithe—both from Zhongding.

Breeze is a refined blend of 90% Tencel™ Lyocell and 10% cashmere, offering softness and fluidity.
Lithe combines 55% Tencel™ Lyocell, 40% wool, and 5% silk, balancing structure with a natural drape.
By centering the collection around one yarn family, a remarkable cohesion of color, texture, and performance is achieved across both knit and woven fabrics.

In weaving, the yarns provide crispness, stability, and lightweight durability.
In circular knitting, they create seamless surfaces, breathability, and gentle stretch.
Rather than limiting creativity, this focused approach expands design possibilities—allowing a single base material to shape everything from airy jackets to structured suiting, all united by a quietly sophisticated touch.
